What do we want to name this thing?
I think Sleeping Giant is a fantastic name. It sounds pretty cool, pretty microbreweryish, pretty mythological, has the local tie-in, and even has metaphorical qualities (I think most of the people involved in the project are kinda "sleeping giants" of unrealized potential).
But
Steamboat Springs! How can we not use that name in our beer? It's so perfect. It sells itself. The marketing is built-in with that name.
What do you guys think?

Steamboat Steams sounds a little bit close to two things: Steamboat the ski resort (which could actually work, to your favor if you give them beer. There's a restaraunt in Tucson called Kingfisher that gets a beer called Kingfisher which tastes like shit but sells really well.) Second, sound kind of like a Cleveland Steamer, but I don't really know why. Maybe you could use this to your advantage too? Remember that while the brewery name is important, people buy Fat Tire as a beer not New Belgian the brewery, so jsut save some good names for your good beers.
Is Devils Thumb out of the running?
Steamboat Springs sounds like the name of a soap or a resort.
names aside - barbeque/restauranting are a couple of things i would claim to know a little about. i feel your apprehension is warranted. Restaurant failure rates are ridiculous, definitely not a good bet.
steamboat springs sounds a little like an old fashioned sasparilla brand or something.
